Check Point Reaches Leaders Square on Gartner’s Magic Quadrants
Researched and compiled by Enterprise New Media

11 January 2012

Research giant, Gartner, release their magic quadrant for various technologies every year displaying various technologies’ current positions in the market. This year saw Checkpoint Software Technologies taking the Leaders position in the magic quadrant for Enterprise Network Firewalls.

Already placed as a Leader on Gartner’s Mobile Data Protection magic quadrant in September 2011 for the seventh year in succession, Check Point is a well revered and worldwide leader in securing the internet. Continuously developing new innovations, Check Point protects against threats, reduces security complexity and lowers total cost of ownership. [2]

The methodology behind Gartner’s magic quadrant’s is to look at who the competing players in the major technology markets are as well as how they are positioned to help you, the client, over the long haul. Gartner explains how their magic quadrants can assist you in making informed business decisions:

  • “Get quickly educated about a market's competing technology providers and their ability to deliver on what end users require today and in the future
  • Understand how a market's technology providers are competitively positioned and the strategies they are using to compete for end-user business
  • Compare a technology provider's strengths and challenges with your specific needs “[1]

After conducting substantial research, Gartner placed Check Point in the Leaders quadrant for Enterprise Network Firewalls, describing Check Point as being able to ‘execute well against their current vision and being well positioned for the future.’ [1] Juliette Sultan, head of global marketing at Check Point Software Technologies says this of the positioning, “We believe our position in the Leaders quadrant affirms our ability to help customers simplify security by providing protection against a wide range of threats with a single, unified solution.” [2]

Check Point reached the Leaders quadrant for multiple reasons, including the offering of a comprehensive security solution for every organisation in today’s IT setting. Check Point Security Technologies state that “Check Point R75.20 continues to build on Check Point’s vision, defining security as a business process combining policies, people and enforcement for stronger protection across all layers of security.” (Goodness lots of Check Points here) On top of this the announcement of anti-bot software will ‘provide businesses with multi-layered bot prevention against malware threats as well as ensuring all channels of business communication remain secure.’ Lastly, the newest addition to Check Point security systems released in October 2011 “delivers the industry’s most comprehensive security with triple performance.” [2]

Check Point has good merit and ample reason to be in the Leaders quadrant on Gartner’s official magic quadrants.
